Producción científica en Scopus de las universidades peruanas en salud que lideran el ranking 2023 de la SUNEDU

Introduction: Scientific production is fundamental in higher education and is a requirement in all universities licensed by SUNEDU. Objective: To know the scientific production in Scopus of the Peruvian health universities that lead the SUNEDU 2023 ranking. Materials and methods: A descriptive level study was carried out, with a retrospective, cross-sectional, observational, bibliometric design that evaluated the scientific production in Scopus from 2010 to September 2023 from four Peruvian health universities (two national and two private) that lead the SUNEDU ranking. The Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) was included, which leads the ranking with 100 points, the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) with 54.72 points, the Universidad Nacional de San Antonio de Abad del Cusco (UNSAAC) with 23.10 points and the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas S.A.C (UPC) with 15.65 points. Results: Public universities published 3,263 studies and private universities obtained 5,694 publications in the last 13 years. The university with the most publications was UPCH (4443 publications) with an average of 317.4 ± 102.3. In second place was the UNMSM (3028 publications) with an average of 216.3 ± 116.1. A significant positive high correlation (r=0.8039; p=0.0009) was obtained between scientific production with private universities. Conclusions: There is greater scientific production in private Peruvian universities and this is significant in relation to the last 13 years; medicine being the subject area with the most scientific publications.
