Abstract

The development of investigative competencies is one of the current concerns of universities, which must be addressed both in the development of investigative skills and in the construction of instruments for their ongoing evaluation. This qualitative, documentary-type study evaluates the similarities and differences between the measurement instruments of investigative competencies based on the criteria: dimensions, types of validity, reliability, the sample, the countries, and the year in which they were applied. The information sources considered were: EBSCOhost, ProQuest, Web of Science (WoS), Google Scholar, and Redalyc. Thirteen articles were selected that met the criteria of: time limit between the years 2016 and 2021; Spanish and English language, informative quality, and university scope. It was determined that the instruments generally use in their construction aspects referred to technological or digital and procedural competencies according to the development of research projects, although they do show high internal consistency and processes of construct validity and expert judgment. These results support the idea that instruments should be developed, for students and teachers, that include in their construction the greatest diversity of dimensions that evidence their evaluation and level of achievement.
